This Sunday, 650 honors pride month with a special event at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College: True, five minute stories from straight and LGBTQ writers from across the U.S., including Kim Kaletsky.

650 is a literary forum that celebrates the spoken word. We feature writers reading aloud their five minute, single topic essays.

From A to LGBTQ is an riveting collection of short personal narratives initially presented by the authors on stage at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. The powerful stories in this volume illustrate a range of experiences from A . . . to LGBTQ.

These stories were originally performed on stage for an audience at Sarah True Stories of Coming Up, Coming Out, and Coming Home Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y., and 650 shows on wide-ranging topics are produced at venues around the country.

“For my first son, it was super easy. My wife and I went to a sperm bank, we got sperm, she got inseminated, and nine months later we had a baby. But when we were ready to have our second child, Shauna was forty-two, and I was thirty-two, and right away our doctor said, ‘Medically speaking, Tara, you should have this baby.’ And right away, I said, ‘No.’ As in, ‘No, no, no—I don’t do those sorts of things.” — Tara Clancy
